چکیده

We study the renormalization of the O(N) model using the auxiliary field formalism (HubbardStratonovich transformation) in the 1/N expansion at finite temperature. We provide the general strategy of renormalization for arbitrary order, and make calculation up to next-to-leading order. We show that renormalization is possible for any values of the condensates, prove the temperature independence of the counterterms and determine the cutoff dependence of the first nontrivial counterterm parts.

Thermodynamics of the pion gas using the O(N) model in 1/N expansion

We investigate the thermodynamics of a pion gas within the O(N) model in the 1/N expansion. Using the auxiliary field technique, we compute the effective potential up to the next-to-leading order (NLO) and show that it can be renormalized in a temperature-independent manner. The crucial step for the consistency of the calculation turns out to be the elimination of the auxiliary field prior to r...

Nonequilibrium dynamics in the O ( N ) model to next - to - next - to - leading order in the 1 / N expansion

Nonequilibrium dynamics in quantum field theory has been studied extensively using truncations of the 2PI effective action. Both 1/N and loop expansions beyond leading order show remarkable improvement when compared to mean-field approximations. However, in truncations used so far, only the leading-order parts of the self energy responsible for memory loss, damping and equilibration are include...

Far-from-equilibrium dynamics with broken symmetries from the 2PI–1/N expansion

We derive the nonequilibrium real-time evolution of an O(N) – invariant scalar quantum field theory in the presence of a nonvanishing expectation value of the quantum field. Using a systematic 1/N expansion of the 2PI effective action to next-to-leading order, we obtain nonperturbative evolution equations which include scattering and memory effects. The equivalence of the direct method, which r...

Time-Dependent Real-Space Renormalization Group Method

In this paper, using the tight-binding model, we extend the real-space renormalization group method to time-dependent Hamiltonians. We drive the time-dependent recursion relations for the renormalized tight-binding Hamiltonian by decimating selective sites of lattice iteratively. The formalism is then used for the calculation of the local density of electronic states for a one dimensional quant...

O(n ) Wilson-polchinski Exact Renormalization Group Equation: Leading and Next-to-leading Orders in the Derivative Expansion. †

With a view to study the convergence properties of the derivative expansion of the exact renormalization group (RG) equation, I explicitly study the leading and next-to-leading orders of this expansion applied to the Wilson-Polchinski equation in the case of the N-vector model with the symmetry O (N). As a test, the critical exponents η and ν as well as the subcritical exponent ω (and higher on...
